It’s awful with the double star as it is. I wonder how it would look with the luxury grille above.

I like the   standup hood ornament but don’t think it works on the E63.

I hate it too. Too many stars.

I also hate the illuminated stars - they’re trashy.

It’s redundant and incorrect. I don’t see SLs with hood stars. Then again, in my opinion, sedans shouldn’t have a roadster grille at all.

Illuminated star is the best/worst representation of what some want MB to be. If I picked a car off the lot and it had that, I would require it to be unplugged before I took delivery,

I’m not a traditionalist on the grille design, I’m ok with either one, personally.

There is no way in hell I would accept a car with the lighted star. I’d have to have it disconnected and deducted from the price.

I love the stripper base model lease specials that have no options except the illuminated star. It makes for quick and easy judgment of the people who only want the badge.

Those are actually the cars I see with lighted stars. I would say 70% of t he lighted stars I see are on GLA250s.

I can deal with the sport grille on an AMG, I suppose. But a lux grille on an otherwise AMG car might be cool too.

I wonder how many people have asked for the illuminated star to be removed.

I’m kinda curious to see if anyone can shop the lux grille onto that wagon. Seems like it might work but I’m not sure.

My uneducated guess is not many Mercedes buyers  get worked up about it like you and I.  I’m guessing the majority are oblivious, but have zero facts to justify that.

IIRC, the grilles are different enough that they can’t simply be swapped, the bumper shape is that different. But someone could do a render, no doubt.

Yeah, badge buyers and probably a few demographics probably love the star. My car has the star logo projector door puddle lights, which also kind of bug me sometimes, but not worth the effort to change it.

Speaking of which, did the pre facelift 212 sports have a bar grille and stand up hood ornament?  Saw one last night when I picked up sushi - had a bar grille, hood ornament, but had a trunk spoiler and what looked to me like the sport body kit including front air dam.   Looked good in diamond silver blue.

Yep, pre- FL sport and AMG models had a traditional grille and hood star. Sport grille and no star came with the facelift.

I think the color name was “quartz blue” for that era, then replaced by “diamond silver”, and now light blue is phased out.
